Your Choices Choose the Life You Will Have

Dear Annette,

I am an inactive elder of the church. I have made some wrong choices that have caused me to be in trouble with the law several times.

Lately, everything is going wrong in my life. Someone once told me that if I pay my tithing, things, money-wise will work out. I need that right now, so I paid my tithing on my last paycheck. I didn't have the money to do so, but I did it anyway. The result is things are still bad and now I'm out the money I paid for tithing. Why do you suppose it didn't work?

Dear Wondering,

You said that you paid your tithing and yet things were not working out. There is a reason for that... You were to give the tithing freely, yet in your heart you have begrudged the Lord His tithes. So, your offering did you no good.

Bad things happen to everyone, but when we keep the Lord's commandments, bad things have a way of working out for our growth and well-being.

There is a blessing attached to every commandment we appropriately keep. When we choose not to keep the commandments there is always a negative consequence. This may be what is happening in your life.

Choose good friends.

Talk with the Lord.

Try to keep the commandments.

Keep the Sabbath day holy.

Give service to others.

Guys, go on a mission.

Be worthy to go to the temple.

Take out your own endowments.
