Hi Annette,
Is medication necessary for someone who had ADD/ADHD? I am on Serzone for depression and seem to be doing well without the stimulant medication that made me real mean 3 months ago. I have organized 2 rooms in my home and have continued to feel fine. I really don't want to see anymore ADD doctors and seem fine with my life as is. Should I be concerned?
Dear Wondering,
An old adage fits here.... "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" The medication is to help you feel in command of you and your thoughts. If you feel you are able to focus well enough on tasks and your mind attends to what you want it to, why mess with medications that always have lousy side-effects. Why borrow trouble?
If there comes a time that you feel you need help in this area, get it! To make absolutely sure I would give the last word to the Lord. You need to studied it out in your mind and make a decision, now ask the Lord if it is right. Whatever He says you have the perfect answer!
A "Yes" answer is a burning of the bosom or a warm swelling feeling in the chest area and/or accompanied by a feeling that all is well or right.
A "No" answer is a stupor of thought or a dull cloudy feeling in your head. Your thoughts are hard to hold on to or disappear.
Moroni 10: 4-5: ". . . and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, He will manifest the truth of it unto your, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."
Now ask the Lord to help you do what you must to put your decision into work.
This may take a great deal of planning. Do that now.
Then actuate your plan and put your decision to work.
James 2:20 ". . . faith without works is dead.
Whenever you have a question about anything in your life, think it through and then ask God if you are right! In this world of uncertainty, where white can be black, black - white, and there are many shades of gray, it is important to know what the Lord would want you to do in your situation. The Lord's perspective may be far different than what you might expect for this instance, because He knows what is coming and what you must do to be ready for it. To be sure... ask the Lord!
