Ten Warning Signs that Show You're Leaving the Lord
The following may help you to know when you are slipping into to personal
apostasy leaving the church.
- An inability to see things of a spiritual nature, clearly.
- An ever-increasing callousness to things of God.
- Attention to spiritual needs move from daily to weekly, then weekly to
monthly, then monthly to occasionally, then to not at all.
- An increasing dependence upon a growing army of psychiatric specialists
instead of the priesthood.
- An increasing independence from spiritual things.
- An increasing number of friends with lower moral standards.
- Can quote from talk shows better than from the scriptures.
- Raised voices in place of subdued tones.
- Verbal, and/or physical abuse replaces love.
- Gradual acceptance and/or participation in evil things.
How to Stop Personal Apostasy
- Have daily individual and family prayer.
- Keep the commandments. Pray for help in doing so.
- Schedule and read the scriptures regularly.
- Ponder the scriptures and pray to understand their meaning for you.
- Attend church regularly.
- Pay your tithes and offerings.
- Have Family Home Evening weekly.
- Follow the prophets.
